Capitalising unemployment benefit to start a business: the lump-sum payment
If you are receiving unemployment benefit and want to start a business, you can apply for the lump-sum payment (capitalisation of unemployment benefit) to receive the whole outstanding amount at once and invest it in your new business.
What can it be used for?
- Investment in the business: machinery, stock, software licences, etc.
- Payment of self-employed contributions: you can allocate the capitalised amount to your monthly RETA contributions.
- Contribution to a company: as share capital if you are going to set up an SL.
Requirements
- Have at least 3 months of benefit outstanding.
- Not have capitalised unemployment benefit in the previous 4 years.
- Apply for the lump sum before registering as self-employed.
- Submit a business plan.
How much can I receive?
100% of the outstanding benefit if it goes towards self-employed contributions. If it is for investment, the amount depends on the business plan. At DPL Asesores we prepare the plan and handle the whole application. Ask us.
